Starts

Welcome to the Tooie Acres Nursery! My mission is simple: to provide our neighbors with the strongest, healthiest garden starts possible. I specialize in small-batch growing, which allows me to monitor every root and leaf from the moment they sprout on our dining room table, to the morning I put them out to find their forever home. By starting my plants on plates rather than in mass-produced industrial environments, I ensure that every 'Tooie Start' is resilient, well-tended, and ready to thrive the moment it hits your soil.

Are you ready to dig in? Below you will find a listing of what’s available now, what is hardening off and coming out to the cart soon, and what is only simply sprouting and will be ready in the weeks to come.

Toughening Up!

These young starts are almost ready! They have moved from the protection of the greenhouse and are now enjoying direct sun and some breeze to strengthen those stalks. They are still small enough to be subjected to one good chomp of a hungry bug that will end their days so they are still under my protective care. Expected dates of when they will be promoted to Ready to Grow are listed! Click on the name to view the info card.

Growing Up!

These little ones have taken to their new cozy patch of soil and have sprouted their starter leaves! They are currently busy building their root systems and getting ready to show off their first "true" leaves. They are living under the protection of a greenhouse setup and are under my watchful eye. These little guys won’t be ready to go off to your forever garden home for a week or two.

Rosemary

A fragrant, woody perennial with needle-like leaves, prized for its aromatic oils and as a versatile culinary staple in roasted dishes and breads.

The Germination Station

This is where it all begins — in my dining room! Seeds sprout daily, and as they start to develop a healthy root system and the first signs of budding leaves, they are carefully introduced to rich, organic soil. But until then, they awaken in a warm, damp bed surrounded by love, laughter, and sometimes my husband’s voice saying, “When do we get our table back?” Silly man. Depending on the variety, these could be anywhere from three to six weeks away from living in your garden.

…More to come for Fall planting!
